Peace

Give Peace A Chance” is a song written by late John Lennon (9 October 1940 – 8 December 1980) back in 1969. John Lennon was one of the founders and members of the very popular band, The Beatles. He fought for peace all his life, but so sad that he was shot dead.

In 2004, a group of people decided to work on the song “Give Peace A Chance” for a remix, currently known as “Give Peace A Chance [Remix 2005]“. A brilliant idea stuck: “What if we could Remix Give Peace A Chance that would keep John’s original vocals with the addition of new verses sung by different artists from artists around Asia?”

The Recording of Give Peace A Chance

It was kinda difficult to extract Lennon’s original vocal as the original song was recorded live in a hotel. But still with the great help of the engineers, it has become a great masterpiece.

I would claim this remix as a “world song” as there are many languages (”The Voices of Asia”) being sung by artists (of their own languages) like Nominjin from Mongolia, Ronald Cheng from Hong Kong, Junoon from Pakistan, Shaan from India, Munir Syed from Arabia, Trisno Ishak from Malaysia, Jeremy Green from the Philippines, Vanessa Fernandez from Singapore, Alicia Pan from Taiwan and Terry Lee, the producer himself.

You can read more about the “Give Peace A Chance” Remix 2005 production here.

I love the music beats and the very Asian feel with the mixture of oriental musical instruments such as (of those that I can recognize by ear) Er Hu, sitar, tabla, etc.. Many different kind of languages in this song. I can only recognize English, Japanese, Chinese (Mandarin) and Malay. It’s a very cool song and I believe everyone of us should listen to it at least once.

Choosing this song to be included in my first post, is to bring up the spirit of world peace.

Peace :D
